Revolution is a Fitting Topic
for World's First SmartEBooks
The first SmartEBooks to be published by Shafer Media are three titles about Revolution, the programming language with which SmartEBooks are created and which is author-founder Dan Shafer's software development tool of choice. Dan also "happens" to be the author of the three books, one full-length title and two shorter booklet-sized products which have been previously published as traditional printed and eBooks. In converting the products to SmartEBooks, Dan has significantly upgraded the content of the book and added files containing each of the code laboratories in the book to the SmartEBook.
"I did this partly as a demonstration of what a SmartEBook might contain and partly because it made such eminent sense," Dan said in announcing the new titles.
SmartEBooks have two components: a launcher the user obtains when purchasing the product and which seldom if ever changes over the life of the SmartEBook, and a SmartEBook file which contains the PDF (or other form) of the eBook plus supporting files in a single, easily downloaded product. Users run the launcher each time they want to use the SmartEBook. The launcher checks the Internet (if a connection is available) to determine whether there is an updated version of the product. If so, it gives the user the option of downloading it. If not, it simply launches the existing copy.
While the initial products created using SmartEBooks are technical books, Dan says there are three more products in the pipeline: two spiritual books and an interactive audio course on goal-setting. All will be released in September.
Information product authors who want to leap onto the SmartEBooks bandwagon can do so by emailing Dan at sales at shafermedia.com. More details on the process can be found here as well.
